Watch highlights of Suzhi's visit
Suzhi's visit
From a young age, Suzhi had always wanted to know more about Singapore, its education system and its latest research and development (R&D) efforts. Hence, the meetings with the Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) under the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) were ideal opportunities to satisfy his curiosity.
At SMU, Suzhi not only met with Professor Low Aik Meng, Dean of Students, he also chatted with Chinese students currently studying there. This visit gave him new insights into the life of a student in Singapore and how easy it was for international students to settle in Singapore.
Suzhi also met with I2R’s Dr Chen Zhining, Head of the Radio Frequency and Optical Department and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. In addition to learning about the types of research undertaken by I2R and seeing first-hand the types of facilities at the labs, Suzhi also gained a deeper understanding of how public research was carried out.
For Jiaxu, Suzhi’s girlfriend, the highlight of her trip was experiencing for herself how safe and secure Singapore was. She commented that this would be a very key factor should one decide to move here for the longer term.
